Job Title: Tax Manager
We are a Business Management firm that manages finances for musicians, songwriters, producers, and other high-profile clients and are looking to add a Tax Manager to our tax team. As there will be a combination of prep and review with this role, it is an ideal career step from an individual currently in a Tax Supervisor role who is looking to step up to Tax Manager, or for a first or second year Tax Manager looking to join our team and grow with us.
Responsibilities:
- Review/Prepare Business and Individual tax returns and quarterly projections.
- Provide daily communication with Tax Director and Business Managers on ongoing client and tax department developments.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to Tax team preparers and interns; actively promote and recognize performance.
- Coordinate all IRS and state income tax audit examinations.
- Analyze financial statements and provide guidance on adjusting entries.
- Assist with research and special projects as needed.
- Participate in the interviewing, hiring, and training of new staff members.
Requirements:
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of position. Maintains the ability to use grammatical, spelling and punctuation skills effectively. Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills as well as a cooperative and dependable personality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and/or Masters in Taxation (required).
- CPA or EA certification or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam (preferred).
- 7+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax department.
- Proficiency in supervising and motivating team members.
- Strong knowledge of tax preparation software, preferably CCH Axcess.
- Strong writing skills to deal with tax notices and audits.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting software.
- Positive attitude, a self-motivator with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred experience working with high-net-worth / music/entertainment clientele.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
Base salary: $120,000 – $140,000
